The course will generally cover the basic elements of Icelandic labour law, i.e. the rights and obligations of employees (workers).
The basic elements of Icelandic labour law cover the rules governing wages, working hours and employees' rights according to collective agreements and legislation. The core elements of Icelandic labour law, cover among other things contract of employment (beginning and end), holidays and holiday allowance, sickness and accidents, rules on working hours, maximun working hours, maternal and paternal rights and work place privacy.
The aim of this course is for participants to know the main principles (rules and rights) of the Icelandic labour market.
This course is primarily intended for trade union representatives and employees, but is open to all members of ASÍ and all affiliated unions.

Attention: Trade union representatives and employees must have approval of their union for participation and payment of course fees. Other participants pay for themselves (It should be noted, that participants can apply for educational grants from their trade unions – different rules apply though for each trade union).
